HE Dyslexia Solutions offers assessments to both children and adults, aiming to identify an individual’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as establishing a diagnosis of a Specific Learning Difficulty, if appropriate.
All assessments investigate overall underlying ability, reading, spelling and writing, as well as other skills essential for learning, such as working memory, visual skills and understanding and use of sounds. A measure of Maths skills might also be included, if this is presented as a difficulty.
Following the assessment, the results are then analysed and a detailed written report is produced. The report details the client’s areas of strength and weakness, and will specify whether or not a Specific Learning Difficulty is present. Regardless of whether a Specific Learning Difficulty has been diagnosed, the report also contains recommendations for the future and suggests strategies to be applied in the home, school and / or workplace.
Assessments usually take place in the client’s home, school or workplace, and take between three and four hours to carry out. Once the report is ready, a face-to-face feedback session is available if required.
Assessments for Disabled Students Allowance for University entrants are also available, as well as Exam Access Arrangements assessments for GCSE and above.
